at an Equity Bank branch in Soroti District, eastern Uganda.

Police told journalists on Tuesday that they rushed to the bank, located

on Main Street, after receiving reports that armed robbers had stormed

the bank in the morning hours and taken guards hostage.

The two suspects in police custody are a security guard and his supervisor, who work for a private security company.

The police believe that the suspects have important information that

will help them in their investigation and are pursuing the said robbers.

Detectives discovered that one of the two guards, who was supposed to be

on duty, did not report for work, according to Kyoga East police

regional spokesperson, ASP Edison Obukulem.

Most of the roads surrounding the bank were cordoned off by security forces following the attack on Tuesday morning.
